About this exam
A Pre-Calculus Readiness Test evaluates whether a student has the algebraic fluency, functional thinking, and mathematical maturity needed to succeed in a full Pre-Calculus course.
It is not a Pre-Calculus exam.
It answers one question:
- Can this student handle Pre-Calculus without struggling?
Where is it used?
Primary use cases
- Placement into Pre-Calculus (vs repeating Algebra 2)
- Admission to accelerated / honors math tracks
- Summer bridge or remediation decisions
- Parent decision-making (extra prep vs move ahead)
- Teacher validation before allowing advancement
Typical students
- End of Algebra 2 (Grade 9–10)
- Accelerated Grade 8–9 students
- Homeschooled / international transfers
- Students targeting AP Calculus later
What does it test (high-level)?
- The test measures:
- Algebra mastery (not memorization)
- Function understanding (inputs → outputs → behavior)
- Graphical interpretation
- Trigonometry foundations
- Mathematical reasoning & precision
Think of it as:
Algebra 2 fluency + function intuition + trig basics
